One of my favourite places to stay is London. The city is so vibrant and has so much to offer it is simply irresistible. Thinking of a cheeky weekend away or maybe longer. Then London is your destination. Make sure you go see the Royal Palace. There are so many other tourist spots to go to but there is nothing like seeing the brilliance of Buckingham Palace. It is not ever country that has royalty so you might as well as make the most of it. If you love the fairy tale that is associated with kings and queens then you will love Buckingham Palace. They even do tours in the summer of the inside. This is not to be missed.
My next recommendation is to go for afternoon tea. Afternoon tea is synonymous with the English and if you don’t do it you will regret it. My favorite place to go is Sketch in London. There are different rooms that serve guests depending on the occasion. It has an eclectic style where you can sit in a life like forest sipping tea. Each person gets a cake stand of goodies that do not disappoint. The toilets are quirky white pods that are hilarious. Prices for afternoon tea vary from £58 to £72. You can also go for dinner in the enchanting Gallery which like is a decadent pink diner. The whole room is pink. Remember if you go the dress code for Sketch is smart.
One of the best things about London is the West End. If London couldn’t be more dazzling then it already is then its the theater that makes it more so. There are so many to choose from that you are simply spoiled for choice. I have been to see “Wicked” and “The Phantom of the Opera” both left me astounded and wanting more. If you are looking for something more serious then a musical you will find it.
Not interested in what I have said so far. It’s probably because we have not got to the best part yet. The English capital is notoriously known for its shopping. When ever I go to London I must see Harrods and Selfridges. Both are big department stores that have everything you can imagine from clothes to technology. And take a stroll down Oxford Street for high street brands and go to Knightsbridge for the kids to get toys at Hamleys. And maybe go to the Victoria Beckham store at Dover Street. The Beckham’s are the golden couple of the UK. The staff in the shop are very welcoming unlike other high fashion stores. You might even meet Victoria Beckham’s mother in there like I did.
Need some TLC and to clear your head. I love going to Hyde Park with a coffee in hand and take a stroll among other tourists and city dwellers. Hyde Park is so beautiful. And with its lake you can enjoy the water by going out on a boat. It is one of the things you should experience weather permitting.
Finally if you love art like I do then be prepared to see the breathtaking art that London has. You can go to the National Gallery London, the Tate Gallery, the Tate Modern or the National Portrait Gallery. They all showcase spectacular pieces from different eras and artists. Its like a visual feast for the eyes!
Now that you have a few ideas about what you can do in London why not plan a trip? There is something for everybody. The city is cosmopolitan and unforgettable. We have talked about sights, food, theater, shopping and art. You won’t be disappointed.
