The gumnam who went to the concert on Friday had two handguns, extra ammunition and also carried a knife in what is being described as a “targeted” attack.
Grimmie recieved injuries to the head and paramedics tried to recusitate her before she was taken to Orlando Regional Medical centre where she died from her injuries at 2.45 am. There were no other victims or injuries however there were 60 children and teenagers who were present during the attack. But her publicist released a statment saying, “It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord. She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn’t survive the gun shot wounds.” “We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning. If you’d like to give back to Christina’s family in her memory, please consider donating to the families GoFundMe page in their time of need.”
It is being reported that there were no metal detectors at the concert. The security at the concert were unarmed and checked all bags and purses when people entered the location. In a press conference on Saturday Orlando Police Chief John Mina detailed how the gunman was a 21 year old white male who had travelled to Orlando from another city in Florida who set out to kill Grimmie. Now police are trying to understand how the gunman was able to gain entry into the concert with the weapons. The gunman did not previously or personally know Grimmie and police are using evidence to check the mans phone, computer and social media to see if they can find a motive for the harrowing murder. Tributes have come pouring in honouring the young star including from Adam Levine, Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas.
